ソフトウェアエコシステム

XRP Ledgerは、「価値のインターネット」を推進および実現可能にするソフトウェアプロジェクトの、深く階層化されたエコシステムの土台となるものです。XRP Ledgerとやり取りするプロジェクト、ツール、ビジネスをすべて挙げることはできないため、このページでは、一部のカテゴリーのみを取り上げ、xrpl.orgで説明されている主要プロジェクトを重点的にご紹介します。

スタックレベル

XRP Ledgerの基盤は、トランザクションを共有し、コンセンサスプロセスに関与し、トランザクションを処理する常時接続のサーバーのピアツーピアネットワークです。XRP Ledgerエコシステム内の他のすべてのものが、最終的にこのピアツーピアネットワーク上に直接、または間接的に構築されます。
プログラミングライブラリーは、さらに上位のソフトウェアに存在し、プログラムコードに直接インポートされます。また、XRP Ledgerにアクセスするためのルーチンの実装があらかじめ作成され、組み込まれています。
ミドルウェアは、XRP Ledgerデータへの間接アクセスを可能にします。多くの場合、この層のアプリケーションには、独自のデータストレージと処理が存在します。
アプリとサービスは、XRP Ledgerでのユーザーレベルのやり取りや、さらに上位のアプリやサービスに対する基盤を提供します。

rippled: コアサーバー

XRP Ledgerの中心であるピアツーピアネットワークは、コンセンサスとトランザクションプロセスのルールを実行するために、信頼性が高く、効率のよいサーバーを必要とします。Rippleでは、このサーバーソフトウェアのリファレンス実装であるrippled（発音は「リップルディー」）を管理および公開しています。このサーバーは、一般利用が可能なオープンソースライセンスの下で使用できるため、誰でもこのサーバーの自身のインスタンスを検証し、変更することができます。また、いくつかの制限の下でそれを再公開することができます。

rippledの各インスタンスは、（Testnetなどの並列ネットワークに従うように構成されていない限り）同じネットワークに同期され、ネットワーク全体のあらゆる通信にアクセスできます。ネットワーク上の各rippledサーバーは、最近のトランザクションの一部と、それらのトランザクションで行われた変更の記録とともに、XRP Ledger全体の最新の状態データの完全なコピーを保持します。また、各サーバーは各トランザクションを単独で処理すると同時に、そのトランザクションの結果が残りのネットワークに一致するか検証します。サーバーは、より多くのレジャー履歴を保持したり、バリデータとしてコンセンサスプロセスに参加するように構成することができます。

このサーバーは、データの検索、サーバーの管理、トランザクションの送信を行うためのrippled APIをユーザーに公開します。

プログラミングライブラリー

プログラミングライブラリーは、XRP Ledgerデータにアクセスするために必ずしも必要なわけではありません。HTTPまたはWebSocketを使用すれば、rippled APIに直接接続できるためです。ライブラリーは、rippled APIにアクセスする際の一般的な作業の一部を簡素化し、データをライブラリー内のプログラミング言語で理解しやすく、かつプログラミングしやすい形式に変換します。

JavaScript用のxrpl.jsは、長年にわたって使用され、かつ十分なサポートがある、XRP Ledgerにアクセスするためのライブラリーです。多くのミドルウェアサービスが、このようなプログラミングライブラリーを内部で使用しています。

ミドルウェア

ミドルウェアサービスは、一方ではXRP Ledger APIを利用し、もう一方では独自のAPIを提供するプログラムです。抽象化層を提供して、いくつかの一般的な機能をサービスとして提供することで上位のアプリケーションを容易に構築できるようにします。

プログラムライブラリーは、インポートしたプログラムによって新規にインスタンス化されたりシャットダウンされたりしますが、ミドルウェアはそれと異なり、多くの場合は無期限に実行され続け、独自のデータベース（リレーショナルSQLデータベースなど）や構成ファイルを持つことがあります。

XRP Ledger上のミドルウェアサービスの例として、Data APIが挙げられます。Data APIは、XRP Ledgerデータを収集して変換することで、時間での照会、データタイプでの絞り込み、およびデータ分析を可能にします。

ミドルウェアサービスのもう1つの例はXRP-APIです。XRP-APIは秘密鍵を管理し、あらゆるプログラミング言語のアプリに対してより使いやすいXRP LedgerへのRESTfulインターフェイスを提供します。

アプリとサービス

最上層は、最もエキサイティングなことが起こる場所です。アプリとサービスは、XRP Ledgerに接続するための手段をユーザーとデバイスに提供します。この層では、取引所がXRPを上場したり、分散型取引所で使用するためにゲートウェイが他の通貨を発行したり、あるいはXRPを購入、売却、または単に~~HODLing~~保持するためにウォレットがユーザーインターフェイスを提供したりします。さらに高階層にサービスを追加するなど、他にも多くの可能性があります。

XRPだけでなく、通貨価値を表す他のさまざまな方法と互換性のあるアプリケーションを構築するには、XRPでの決済に[Interledger Protocol][]を使用するのが最適です。
