178fc58c34 docs(telemetry): correct the readiness check, build steps and span triggers
The collector readiness note claimed docker-compose.yml publishes only 4317,
4318 and 8889 and that 13133 comes from a workload stack. It publishes 13133,
and that stack is not part of this branch. Probe health_check on 13133 and drop
the note; the troubleshooting entry now points at the same check instead of
carrying a second, weaker copy.

Stop restating BUILD.md. The hardcoded conan and cmake lines had drifted from
it, -Dtelemetry=ON is redundant because the Conan toolchain carries it, and the
conan-release preset resolves only from the repo root, builds into
.build/build/Release rather than .build, and sets no -Dxrpld=ON. Defer to
BUILD.md and docs/build/telemetry.md.

Test 2's keygen step reused the Devnet config with -a --start, which wrote a
genesis chain into the Devnet store, took RPC port 5005 from node 1, and was
followed by an rm -rf that also destroyed the mainnet node's store and every
log. Give it its own config under the test's temp root, as the script does.
The manual path also needs XRPLD_LOG_DIR, or the collector tails the wrong root
and Test 3 finds nothing without erroring.

Neither the template nor the script set [network_id], so a local cluster
stamped xrpl.network.type=mainnet and shared dashboard series with real mainnet
data. Set a private id in both, and say which label it produces. Also drop a
duplicate metrics_endpoint from the generated config.

Split the consensus trigger row: six families fire on a standalone
ledger_accept, and the remaining seven need the establish phase, a validator
key, or a peer. ledger.validate needs peers too, because checkAccept is
unreachable in standalone. Correct the trace-id note to 16 bytes, and name the
strategy it depends on.

The pathfinding bullet said raw account values reach Grafana Cloud. Both
accounts are already tokens when they leave the node; what differs is that the
base config hashes them a second time, so one account carries two tokens across
configs and traces must not be joined across them.

Also: the Loki allow-list is a fixed 18 keys on the pinned image with k8s and
cloud enumerated rather than wildcarded, the runbook documents 9 of 15
dashboards, and the spanmetrics block now uses one spelling with a note that
the cloud config uses the other.

2b6a5733e7 merge: bring the component renames forward from phase8-log-correlation
Four doc conflicts, all where this branch had rewritten a passage that upstream
had only renamed. This branch's text is kept in seven of the eight hunks and
the spanmetrics -> span_metrics and otlp/tempo -> otlp_grpc/tempo spellings
carried into it, so the rewrite is not lost and the names stay current.

The exception is the TESTING.md span-call-count comment, where the incoming
side is the fuller text: it explains that the span_ prefix comes from the
connector's namespace setting. That side is taken.

Metric names are untouched — span_calls_total and traces_span_metrics_* are
produced by the connector's namespace, not by its component name.

6f28d46682 merge: bring the component renames forward from phase7-native-metrics
Two conflicts, both where this branch's log-pipeline additions sat next to the
upstream spanmetrics -> span_metrics rename: the config header comment, which
this branch extended with a logs line, and the integration test, where the
log-correlation step precedes the span-metrics step. This branch's content is
kept in both and the rename carried into it.

366bcaa328 merge: bring the component renames forward from phase6-statsd
Four conflicts, all where this branch's replacement of the StatsD path with
native OTLP met the upstream spanmetrics -> span_metrics rename. This branch's
design wins in every case; the rename is carried into its text rather than
reverting it, so the connector, its pipeline references, the header comment,
the TESTING.md summary and the runbook all use span_metrics while keeping the
native-OTLP wording.

One addition beyond a straight take-a-side: publish the collector's health
check port. This branch restored the health_check extension and its own
TESTING.md polls http://localhost:13133/ to decide the collector is ready, but
the port was never published on this side of docker-compose.yml, so that check
could not pass from the host. Verified the merged config loads with no
deprecation warnings and that 13133 is published exactly once.

No metric name changed: traces_span_metrics_* already read that way before the
rename, which only ever touched component names and prose.

8b1e577931 fix(telemetry): tear down the docker volumes on every integration-test run
`docker compose down` keeps the `tempo-data` named volume, so a previous
run's traces stay in Tempo and can satisfy this run's span searches. Pass
-v in cleanup(), and tear the stack down before starting it: a run that
reaches the summary deliberately leaves the stack up, so nothing else
clears it.

d141405ff3 merge: bring the lock-free ValidationTracker forward from phase8-log-correlation
The three tracker files conflicted because both sides had rewritten them. Took
the incoming lock-free class, then put this branch's two monotonic accessors
back on top of it: totalAgreementsEver() and totalMissedEver(), backed by a
gross pair incremented at first classification and left alone by the repair
branch. MetricsRegistry reads both, so dropping them would not compile.

The test file kept the incoming suite, which renames every case, and gained
this branch's two gross-counter cases adapted to the injected clock.

c622da5a76 refactor(telemetry): use the current name for the span metrics connector
The pinned collector warns on every start that "spanmetrics" is a deprecated
alias for "span_metrics". Rename the connector, its pipeline references and
the prose that names it.

The derived metric names are untouched. They come from the connector's
`namespace` setting rather than its component name, so occurrences inside a
metric name such as traces_spanmetrics_calls_total are deliberately left as
they are; renaming those would break every span panel. The rename is applied
only to the bare word, never where it is joined to a metric name by
underscores.

This branch introduces the connector, so the change belongs here.

cbb8581997 fix(telemetry): make the log pipeline actually deliver, and fix its docs
Addresses the open review findings on this branch.

The log root was never delivered at all. Docker creates a missing bind-mount
source as root, Config::getDebugLogFile() only warns when it cannot create the
network subdirectory inside it, and Application carries on. The node therefore
looked healthy while writing no debug.log, and Loki stayed empty with no error
at any layer. docker/telemetry/data/logs has in fact been root-owned in a
working checkout since it was first created. A one-shot xrpld-logdir-init
service now creates the directory and hands it to XRPLD_UID/XRPLD_GID,
following the pattern the storage-init service already uses.

Ingested logs carried no node identity, so a multi-node stack collapsed into
one indistinguishable stream while every dashboard filters on
service_instance_id. The receiver now sets include_file_path and lifts the
per-node directory onto the resource attribute service.instance.id, which is
on the allow-list Loki promotes to an indexed stream label. A record attribute
would only become structured metadata and could not be used in a selector.
For that to join anything the directory name has to equal the emitter's
service_instance_id, so the node directories are renamed to match: node$i
becomes Node-$i, and the standalone config writes to logs/xrpld-standalone.

The integration test aborted before reporting. Under set -o pipefail the
grep | head -1 pipeline is killed by SIGPIPE once the log exceeds the pipe
buffer, so the run exited 141 somewhere past a few hundred matching lines and
read as a flaky test. grep -m1 stops on its own. The test also verified the
local file and Tempo but never that a line reached Loki, which is the one hop
this branch adds, so a bounded Loki assertion is added alongside a readiness
wait.

Documentation fixes: the Tempo cross-check counted .data, but Tempo returns
OTLP shape so the array is batches and one trace can span several; the Loki
step used the instant /query endpoint, which rejects a bare log selector with
HTTP 400 and a text/plain body, so jq could never parse it and the step never
printed a number even when ingestion worked. The filelog comment claimed six
fractional digits where the node always emits nine. The two flowcharts used
<br/>, carried no legend, and advertised GetSpan(), which Log.cpp deliberately
avoids in favour of reading the thread-local context directly.

Finally, rename the deprecated collector component names: the pinned
collector warns on every start that otlphttp and filelog are aliases for
otlp_http and file_log. Alloy's otelcol.exporter.otlphttp and
otelcol.receiver.filelog are that product's own component names and are not
deprecated, so they are left alone.

cbd6cdbbdd merge: bring the integration-test bounds forward from phase6-statsd
Two files conflicted and both were composed rather than taken from one side.

integration-test.sh: kept this branch's spanmetrics names, since the collector
sets namespace: "span" here and traces_span_metrics_* matches nothing, and took
phase-6's --max-time on every probe. The Tempo time bound needed restoring by
hand: RUN_START, the check_span guard and the start/end parameters are on
phase-6 and absent here, so a plain resolution kept phase-6's comment about
bounding the search while shipping no bound. All four pieces are back.

TESTING.md: kept server=otel with the metrics endpoint. Phase-6's template sets
server=statsd and documents prefix, which this branch's OTel path ignores.

6976539274 fix(telemetry): bound the integration-test probes and align its config template
curl applies no overall timeout of its own, so a server that accepts the
connection and then stops answering parks a poll loop for the rest of the run
and the loop's attempt count stops bounding anything. Add a CURL_MAX_TIME
ceiling and apply it to all 18 executable probes in integration-test.sh.

TESTING.md's manual node-config template also disagreed with what the script
writes, so a reader following it could not reproduce the automated path:

- no [insight] stanza, so no beast::insight metric leaves the node at all and
Step 10b's ten rippled_* assertions cannot pass
- [ips_fixed] listed all six peer ports including the node's own

The log level is deliberately untouched: the template and the script agree on
warning here.

30d165da43 fix(telemetry): bound integration-test assertions to the run under test
check_statsd_metric queried rippled_rpc_requests, which no pipeline
produces: the collector's statsd receiver runs with is_monotonic_counter,
so the Prometheus exporter appends _total. A wrong name returns zero
series rather than an error, so the assertion could not be told apart
from a broken pipeline. All eight assertions were re-derived from how
each metric is created in code; this was the only counter.

Tempo searches carried no start/end, and tempo-data is a named volume
that `docker compose down` preserves under a one-hour block retention, so
the 17 span assertions could pass on an earlier local run's traces. Bound
every search to this run, and tear the stack down with -v before starting
so no earlier data is present to match. The service-name check now
matches a whole line, because the tag-values endpoint ignores start/end.

Add a gtest for the StatsD gauge that publishes its initial zero and for
the counter that must publish nothing. Assert two metrics the harness
never checked: a traffic-category gauge no message reaches, and
io_context latency.

a5d5d0911f merge: bring the metrics_endpoint key forward from phase-8
Telemetry.cpp conflicted. Phase-9 rewrote the metrics pipeline into
makeTracerResource()/makeMetricsResource()/initMetrics() further down the
class, so its side of the region is empty and phase-8's private helper
block does not apply. Resolved to phase-9's structure; phase-8's own
hunks outside the region (the deleted kTracesPath/kMetricsPath, the
verbatim traces URL, the two-endpoint startup log) merged in.

Phase-9's initMetrics() still derives the metrics URL by suffix-swap.
That is fixed in the next commit, not here.

7b845392d4 feat(telemetry): give metrics its own endpoint key
One [telemetry] key served both OTLP signals, and the metrics URL was
derived from it by suffix-swap: strip a trailing slash, strip a known
signal path if present, append the wanted one. Anything not ending
/v1/traces therefore posted metrics to the traces path, and the OTLP
version was pinned in code where an operator could not reach it.

Adds metrics_endpoint alongside traces_endpoint. Both are full URLs used
verbatim, so traces and metrics can go to different collectors, or to one
whose OTLP paths are not the defaults. signalEndpoint(), kTracesPath and
kMetricsPath are gone; nothing derives an endpoint from another.

The startup log names both URLs, since with two independent endpoints
there was otherwise no way to see where metrics were going.

Also drops exporter=otlp_http from the shipped config and the test
fixture. No branch in the chain reads an `exporter` key: it was a real
Setup member in the first phase-1b implementation, removed when only
OTLP/HTTP was wired up, and already deleted from TESTING.md once on the
same grounds.

3aff6d4d64 merge: bring the traces_endpoint rename forward from phase-8
Eighteen conflict regions across nine files. Resolved by asking, per
region, which side is the better final state rather than by taking a
branch wholesale.

Telemetry.cpp keeps phase-9's two resource builders. phase-8 offered a
single makeResource() with no node identity; phase-9 splits it into
makeTracerResource() and makeMetricsResource() because the metrics
provider is built in the constructor, before setNodeId() runs, so
xrpl.node.id can only be stamped unconditionally on the tracer side.
Collapsing them would have dropped that attribute, which is what keeps
per-node traces from folding into one identity.

Telemetry.h and the config test compose both sides: phase-9's nodeId
member and its assertion, plus the renamed endpoint.

xrpld-telemetry.cfg keeps phase-9's devnet identity and its
metrics_endpoint, renames the traces key, and drops exporter=otlp_http.
Nothing reads an `exporter` key on any branch in the chain: it was a real
Setup member in the first phase-1b implementation, removed when only
OTLP/HTTP was wired up, and already deleted from TESTING.md once on the
same grounds. The cfg line was the last carrier.

The docs keep phase-9's versions, which are both fuller and more
accurate: the incoming runbook listed the consensus strategy values as
"random" where the code compares against "attribute".

OTelCollector.cpp had five comment-only regions in a file phase-7 owns,
so those take the upstream side.

MetricsRegistry.h's usage example named a member that no longer exists
and the wrong arity; it now matches the real three-argument call and says
where the endpoint comes from.

9fd5414fe6 merge: bring the traces_endpoint rename forward from phase-7
Ten conflict regions in four files, none of them caused by the rename.
phase-8's own commit had rewritten comments in files phase-7 owns
(Unit.h, HistogramBuckets.h, OTelCollector.cpp) and in Telemetry.cpp,
while the same sweep ran independently on phase-7.

Resolved every region to phase-7's side on ownership grounds: those files
belong to phase-7 or earlier, so a downstream branch should not carry
divergent copies. phase-8 changed comments only in all four, verified
against the merge base, so no code was dropped.

The one structural region: phase-7 had refactored addUnitView from an
inline lambda into a member function, and phase-8 still held the lambda.
Keeping phase-8's would have shadowed the member.

Wording phase-8 had that is worth restoring on phase-7 -- the "legacy"
qualifier on the prefix parameter, and the rejected-alternative note on
the bucket ladders -- is recorded outside the tree for a follow-up.

8d1eacc5fc merge: bring the traces_endpoint rename forward from phase-6
Three conflicts, all composed rather than resolved by taking a side:

- TelemetryConfig.cpp: phase-6 kept networkTypeFromId file-local with
[[nodiscard]]; phase-7 had relocated it to public scope for
Application.cpp. Kept phase-7's relocation, so one definition remains.
The [[nodiscard]] survives on the declaration in Telemetry.h.
- Telemetry.cpp x2: phase-7 added getMeter overrides, phase-6 added
[[nodiscard]] to the startSpan below them. Kept both, and put
  [[nodiscard]] on getMeter too.
- TESTING.md: phase-7 had the right metric name (span_calls_total, which
the spanmetrics namespace produces) but the wrong label. Its
xrpl.rpc.command appears nowhere else in the branch; the attribute is
bare `command`, which is what the dashboards query. Took phase-7's
  metric with the correct label.

Both signalEndpoint call sites follow the renamed member. signalEndpoint
itself is left in place: removing it and adding metrics_endpoint is a
design change, not part of propagating a rename.

8c695b69a5 fix(telemetry): follow the traces_endpoint rename in the node configs
The rename arrived from phase-1b by merge. Four files still wrote the old
key, which the parser no longer reads, so each would have silently
fallen back to the default collector URL.

integration-test.sh is the load-bearing one: it generates the node config
the test harness starts, so the stale key would have pointed the node at
localhost regardless of the compose network. xrpld-telemetry.cfg is the
standalone node config; the other two document the key.

Note this cfg has a second, divergent variant on the devnet branches that
needs the same fix there.

d687903c3f fix(telemetry): correct the metric names, guard the arithmetic, tidy the collector
Harness and docs:

- integration-test.sh queried traces_span_metrics_* for spanmetrics, but this
branch sets the connector namespace to "span", so those two checks matched
nothing and failed. The dashboards and runbook had moved; the script had not.
- The same script queried eight native metric names with a product prefix and
capitals that formatName() cannot produce: it lowercases, maps '.' and ' ' to
'_', and prepends nothing. Corrected against the runbook tables.
- TESTING.md carried the same stale spanmetrics names and a jq example reading
a Prometheus label that does not exist.
- The runbook now records where each part of a derived metric name comes from,
since only the namespace is ours to choose.

Collector:

- OTelCounterImpl::increment silently dropped a negative amount. An OTel
counter takes unsigned deltas, so assert and let a release build under-count
  rather than wrap.
- OTelGaugeImpl::increment computed current + amount in int64, which is
undefined on overflow, and the clamp ran afterwards so it could not help.
Check the headroom first. set() now clamps rather than casting a uint64 above
INT64_MAX to a negative, which is what made underflow reachable.
- The meter scope was two bare literals. They are constants now, and
Telemetry.cpp static_asserts them equal to kMeterName and kMeterVersion:
beast cannot include the telemetry header, so a build failure is the only way
  to catch the copies drifting.
- formatName uses views::transform and ranges::to, as Backend.cpp already does.
- Unused constructor parameters take [[maybe_unused]] instead of (void) casts.
- The destructor logged "shutting down" and "stopped" with nothing between.

initMetrics was 79 lines doing four jobs. The exporter and the histogram views
are separate functions now, addUnitView is a member rather than a lambda
capturing this, and the export interval and timeout are named. It also derived
the metrics URL from the traces URL by suffix swap, which sent metrics to the
traces path whenever the configured URL had any other shape; both URLs now come
from one rule that handles a bare host, a trailing slash and either signal path.

95fb21b5d5 docs(telemetry): drop the inert insight prefix from the OTel examples
OTelCollector routes every instrument name through a static formatName()
that only lowercases the name and maps '.' and space to '_'. The sole read
of prefix_ is the startup log line at OTelCollector.cpp:802, and all four
instrument factories go through formatName(), so no prefix can ever reach
an exported name. StatsDCollector does prepend it, so the StatsD example
keeps the key and now states why.

Covers the three server=otel blocks in the 09 reference and the config
integration-test.sh generates. This branch introduces OTelCollector, so it
is where the inert examples first appear; phase-6's examples are all
server=statsd and stay as they are.

bca2b35bf0 docs(telemetry): stop showing inert [insight] prefix on the OTel path
ff8629bb11 dropped prefix=xrpld as inert and misleading, but four OTel-path
sites still set it, so the branch contradicted itself.

OTelCollector routes every instrument name through a static formatName()
that only lowercases and maps '.'/space to '_'; the sole read of prefix_ is
the startup log line at OTelCollector.cpp:810. All four instrument factories
funnel through formatName(), so no prefix can reach an exported name.
StatsDCollector does prepend it (StatsDCollector.cpp:551/592/640/715), so the
StatsD example legitimately keeps it.

Removed from the 09 reference's OTel config block and from both
quick-reference setups, and from the cfg integration-test.sh generates. The
StatsD example is unchanged and now states why it keeps the key.

Also corrected run-full-validation.sh: [insight] endpoint was described as
"already matches the built-in default", implying it would matter if it
differed. CollectorManager reads it and hands it to OTelCollector, which also
only logs it; the exporter URL is built in Telemetry::initMetrics() from
[telemetry] endpoint. It is as inert as prefix was.

98ba282854 fix(telemetry): make the integration test correlate by construction, record the baseline log-level coupling
Three related follow-ups to running the workload at info.

integration-test.sh has its own log-trace correlation check that the workload
validator knows nothing about: check_log_correlation() greps each node's
debug.log for "trace_id=<hex> span_id=<hex>" and fails when it finds none, then
cross-checks a sample id against Tempo. At warning it had no guaranteed source.
The only warn-or-worse statement inside the activated accept scope is
RCLConsensus.cpp:671, which fires solely when a transaction throws, so the
check was passing incidentally -- helped by scanning whole files with no time
window. Raising it to info gives it the same guarantee the workload now has:
the consensus accept pair, one branch of which fires every accepted round.
Safe here because this script captures no latency baseline, so there is nothing
for the extra log I/O to contaminate.

baselines/README.md now records that the committed baseline is only valid at
the log level the harness generates. Logging is synchronous and several gated
spans contain log statements -- ledger.build has BuildLedger.cpp:81, and
consensus.accept has RCLConsensus.cpp:655/663/686 with :663 logging once per
transaction -- so the configured level is part of the measurement. Moving it
inflates or deflates the quantiles the gate reads without ever reporting a
regression, because the baseline moves with it. Changing the level therefore
requires re-capturing the baseline.

benchmark.sh keeps warning and keeps prefix=xrpld, and now says why. It
measures telemetry overhead as a delta between a telemetry-off and a
telemetry-on arm, so extra synchronous log I/O would inflate both arms and the
thresholds gate the result. The comment exists to stop a future reader
"aligning" it with the workload harness and quietly degrading the measurement.

This branch had already made the same corrections independently, and in
richer form, so the resolution keeps this branch's version nearly throughout:

- 09-data-collection-reference.md: this branch already documents the
state-accounting gauges as cumulative **microseconds** with an explanatory
callout, and already names `jobq_job_count` with its `jobq` group. Kept.
- telemetry-runbook.md: already carries `jobq_job_count` in both tables. Kept,
along with this branch's larger additions.
- OpenTelemetryPlan.md: kept this branch's rewritten section 9 blurb, which
describes the inventory without hardcoding counts and so cannot drift.
- consensus-health.json: kept this branch's rewrite. It deliberately removed
  the four TraceQL close-time detail panels and renamed the agreement panel;
the incoming side would have resurrected them. Panel count unchanged at 26.
- integration-test.sh: this branch's unprefixed native metric names were kept,
but it still asserted `job_count`, so the `jobq_job_count` correction was
carried over. That check would otherwise always fail.

Conflict resolution kept this branch's evolution and re-applied phase-6's
fixes on top of it, rather than taking either side wholesale:

- consensus-health.json: kept the native `span_calls_total` metric name and
the `interval: 15s` and point styling from this branch; added phase-6's
`close_time_correct` PromQL filter and the NetClock axis labels. The
TraceQL boolean-regex filter stays removed and the `byRegexp` overrides
carry over. Panel count unchanged at 27.
- 09-data-collection-reference.md: kept this branch's headings, its more
detailed consensus attribute table (which already types
`consensus_round_id` as int64) and its section numbering, including the
deliberate removal of the SpanNames inventory. Carried over only the
correction that the state-accounting duration gauges are cumulative
  microseconds, not seconds.
- telemetry-runbook.md: kept this branch's native metric names
  (`span_calls_total`, `span_duration_milliseconds_bucket`); carried the
  `rpc.request` -> `rpc.http_request` span-name fix and the `jobq_` segment
  on the job-queue depth metric.
- integration-test.sh: kept this branch's `check_otel_metric` form and
  carried the `jobq_job_count` correction.

3a3ae1c3ae fix(telemetry): name the job-queue depth metric jobq_job_count
The integration test asserted `rippled_job_count`, which never reports any
series, so that check always failed. `JobQueue` registers the gauge as
`makeGauge("job_count")`, but `Application.cpp` passes it
`collectorManager_->group("jobq")`, so the emitted StatsD name is
`jobq.job_count` and the exported Prometheus name is
`<prefix>_jobq_job_count`.

Corrected the same name in two runbook tables that also dropped the `jobq`
segment. `09-data-collection-reference.md` already had it right, which is why
the two documents disagreed.

Routed here rather than to the phase-10 PR where it was reported: the wrong
name is present in `integration-test.sh` on every branch from phase 6
onward, and this is the branch that introduces the file.

Left alone deliberately:
- `statsd-node-health.json` still queries the old name, but that dashboard is
deleted at phase 7 in favour of `node-health.json`
- `06-implementation-phases.md` names `job_count`, which is accurate as the
code-level makeGauge argument rather than the exported metric name

8ae1d99db9 fix(telemetry): remove duplicate [insight] section from integration test
The generated node config carried two [insight] blocks. Duplicate ini
sections do not replace one another: parseIniFile emplaces the section
name (a no-op when it already exists) and appends the lines to the same
vector, then Section::append writes each key with insert_or_assign. The
effective section was therefore server=statsd with the first block's
endpoint and service_instance_id surviving but unused.

CollectorManager selects StatsDCollector for that value, so the nodes
emitted beast::insight metrics over UDP to 8125, which has no receiver
in the collector pipeline and no published port. The script's own check
asserts that 8125 is not listening, and its insight metric assertions
fail on zero series.

Keep only the server=otel block so the config matches what the script
verifies.

18a40f86fb fix(telemetry): correct integration-test span checks and telemetry docs
The integration test's span assertions never actually ran. check_span()
built a Tempo /api/search call with --data-urlencode but no -G, so curl
POSTed the params as a body; Tempo answers 200 and ignores the query, so
every span name looked present. Verified against a live Tempo 2.9.4: the
buggy form returns the store's total trace count for any name, including
"zzz.does.not.exist"; with -G a real name returns 1 and a bogus one 0.

Fixed alongside it: the RPC check asserted "rpc.request", which is never
emitted (ServerHandler.cpp builds "rpc.http_request"). These two had to
change together, since -G turns the bogus name from a silent pass into a
hard failure.

Also in the script: a consensus timeout logged two failures and counted
two, because a post-loop else re-reported what the timeout branch had
already reported; and three unguarded curl calls aborted the whole script
under set -euo pipefail, making the ACCOUNT_ZERO fallback dead code with
no cleanup. Guarded the curls and wired an EXIT trap to the existing
cleanup(). The trap deliberately fires only before the summary, so a
completed run still leaves the stack up as the header documents.

Docs corrections, all re-derived from code:
- span inventory heading 35 -> 38, attribute heading 83 -> 89 rows
(78 unique keys), and the section 6 header table now carries the
missing TxApplySpanNames.h row so its columns sum to the same figures
- two stale paths: ConsensusSpanNames.h is under include/xrpl/consensus/,
  TxSpanNames.h under src/xrpld/telemetry/
- consensus_round_id is int64, not string (RCLConsensus.cpp sets
  prevLgr.seq() + 1); the runbook's TraceQL examples now use a numeric
literal instead of an unparseable bare <round_id>
- state-accounting duration gauges are cumulative MICROSECONDS, not
  seconds (NetworkOPs.cpp declares std::chrono::microseconds and
  publishes dur.count() raw)
- sampling_ratio is not a config key; head sampling is fixed at 1.0 and
the shipped collector has no tail sampling, so the caveat was rewritten
- the plan blurb referenced Jaeger; this stack is Tempo

99ae7cfb5f Merge branch 'pratik/otel-phase8-log-correlation' into pratik/otel-phase9-metric-gap-fill
Four files conflicted.

xrpl.proto and TraceContextPropagator.h: phase-9's note is a semantic
superset of phase-8's and already carries no plan-folder pointer, so
phase-9's text is kept and nothing phase-8 said is lost.

node-health.json: the only change phase-8 makes to this file is renaming a
row that phase-9 had already deleted, so phase-9's file stands. Panel count
holds at 59 and both Validated Ledger Seq panels survive.

TESTING.md: resolved per hunk rather than by side. Phase-9's replacement of
the drifted span table and its new Grafana Cloud section are kept, and
phase-8's de-numbered "Test 3: Log-Trace Correlation" heading is taken --
keeping phase-9 wholesale would have reinstated the phase number that
phase-8 removed.

ca19c456fd test(telemetry): name the metrics under test instead of plan task numbers
The integration-test sections, alert provisioning headers and a naming-check
test comment were indexed by rollout phase and task numbers defined only in
planning documents outside the shipped tree. Each now names what it covers.

3860c93db2 refactor(telemetry): route dashboards, runbook and collector work to phase-9
These changes were developed on the phase-10 branch but belong to content this
branch and its upstreams introduced. Carrying them on phase-10 made its PR diff
report churn in files phase-10 does not own, and left each PR claiming a scope
that did not match its contents.

Moved here from phase-10 (identical content, no functional change):

- Dashboards: all 14 existing boards plus the new log-derived-insights board.
- Docs: telemetry-runbook.md (minus the workload/benchmark sections, which
describe phase-10 tooling) and the new telemetry-glossary.md.
- Grafana Cloud + Alloy export path: collector config, compose override, the
  two .env examples and alloy/config.alloy.
- Local stack: otel-collector-config.yaml gains sub-millisecond and
second-scale spanmetrics buckets, pins unit=ms, and promotes
  close_time_correct; integration-test.sh and TESTING.md follow.
- Node configs: exported_instance -> service_instance_id in comments; the
mainnet sample now logs at warning to bound log volume.
- Metrics code: Telemetry.cpp builds the metrics pipeline in the constructor
via initMetrics() so the global MeterProvider is published before any
subsystem creates a beast::insight instrument, and the histogram view keeps
each instrument's own name instead of collapsing them under one series.
MetricsRegistry gains a last_close_time gauge and skips negative job-queue
durations. OTelCollector drops an unused accessor.
- Naming CI: xrpl_work_item joins EXTERNAL_INFRA_LABELS and Rule E accepts the
dotted perf-iac resource-attribute form. This must travel with the
dashboards and runbook that reference those labels, or the rules fail.
- Doxygen input glob no longer recurses dot-directories.

Sections describing phase-10 tooling stay on phase-10 and keep their
"Future Enhancement" / "Planned, not yet implemented" markers here; phase-10
removes those markers when it lands the tooling.

f99a1c5310 fix(telemetry): consolidate xrpld log mount to a single rootless path
The collector's log ingestion used a container path named after the old
`rippled` binary and defaulted its host mount to a location that either
needed root or diverged from where the telemetry configs actually write.

Consolidate on one accessible log root:
- container mount target renamed /var/log/rippled -> /var/log/xrpld
- filelog glob -> /var/log/xrpld/*/debug.log
- compose mount source defaults to the repo-relative ./data/logs
(user-owned, no root), overridable via XRPLD_LOG_DIR
- devnet telemetry cfg writes to data/logs/devnet/debug.log so it lands
one subdir below the mount root and matches the glob
- integration-test.sh sets XRPLD_LOG_DIR to its own workdir
- docs/runbook/task-list updated to match

The default xrpld config (cfg/xrpld-example.cfg) is intentionally left
untouched.

9e5f1caff2 docs(telemetry): address review feedback on phase-8 log correlation
- Correct log-timestamp examples to real Logs::format() output
(2024-Jan-15 10:30:45.123456 UTC) in docs, TESTING.md, and reference.
- Update Loki to v3.4.2 and switch the collector exporter to
otlphttp/loki on the native /otlp endpoint (docs + task list).
- Make the collector log-mount path configurable via XRPLD_LOG_DIR.
- Remove implementation-phase references from shipped config/script
  comments, keeping the functional descriptions.
